At this time and place in the world, specialisation is the expectation. I enjoy the freedom of using different media to learn new skills, styles, and ideas.  Art is paradoxical: an escape and a point of deep connection. It is a way of exploring the world through tools, styles, and ideas, allowing the communication of inarticulate ideas. I try to show the things I love as I see them: the curve of a beak, the golden shade of light on a landscape, a fairy tale, a fear, a pattern, a colour. Trying to visually recreate these things means defining their fragments through micro-successes and failures. Every attempt brings out new strengths, weaknesses, ideas, and interests.

I work in a variety of media, presently Scratch board and acrylic, but also watercolour, paper cutting, printing, carving, glass etching (using acid and dremel), and drawing (using pencils, pencil crayons, ink, pens, felts, conte, and charcoal
